The city: Andorra
Legend says Charlemagne founded Andorra in 805 in recognition for the help given by its inhabitants fighting the Saracens. For over ten centuries, Andorra has been an independent geographical, political and human entity, and is currently one of the smallest states in Europe. Its splendid location, high in the mountains between France and Spain, has made it a commercial and cultural crossroad within the Mediterranean countries, as it is demonstrated by the eleven million tourists who visit it annually. Over the last few years, the Principality has seen a widespread economic and social expansion, and the Constitution signed in 1993 describes it as a legal, democratic and social state
Its wide range of sporting, leisure and cultural activities, as well as its countryside, cuisine and Romanesque art have managed to attract numerous kinds of tourists who return to this small principality in the middle of the Pyrenees year after year.
